The State of Vermont Department of Mental Health (DMH) has contracted with Maximus to provide Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) screenings and Level II mental health assessments for individuals who are applying to or reside in Medicaid-certified nursing facilities. This transition is planned for November 16, 2026.
The primary goal of the federally mandated PASRR program is to determine whether an individual with a known or suspected serious mental illness (SMI), intellectual disability (ID), and/or a related condition (RC), requires the services of a nursing facility and if so, any disability specific services they need to be successful in that setting.
